Papa didn't say 'Oh!'

In today's Daily Bread... this is what was mentioned!

I have a friend who was working in his home office one evening, trying to get some necessary paperwork done. His little girl, who was about 4 years old at the time, was playing around his desk, puttering about, moving objects here and there, pulling out drawers, and making a good deal of noise.

My friend endured the distraction with stoic patience until the child slammed a drawer on one of her fingers and screamed in pain. Reacting in exasperation he shouted, “That’s it!” as he escorted her out of the room and shut the door.

Later, her mother found her weeping in her bedroom and tried to comfort her. “Does your finger still hurt?” she asked. “No,” the little girl sniffled. “Then why are you crying?” her mother asked. “’Cause,” she whimpered, “when I pinched my finger, Papa didn’t say, ‘Oh!’”

Sometimes that’s all we need, isn’t it? Someone who cares and who will respond with kindness and compassion, someone who will say, “Oh!” We have One named Jesus who does that for us.

Jesus loves us, understands our sorrows, and gave Himself for us (Eph. 5:2). Now we are to “walk in love” and imitate Him.

Knowing God—what comfort there,
Drawn by His eternal care;
Love from God—what joy we share,
Drawn into His mercies rare. —Branon

God’s whisper of comfort quiets the noise of our trials.

This reminded me of the so little times I have stopped and be concern to someone or anyone for that matter.

My experience of....

Having to work with a group of people requires me to put on my trainers hat. This would allow me to see them for who they are and also to work around their character.

We have 4 youth and 4 adults in this group. Working with the youth is fun. They are free in ideas and can be very creative. It is indeed fun to draw them out to do more and raise their bar for the things they want and can do. My vision is to set them up to win. It is time for them to look at possibilities and work through challenges.

My declaration is to inject fun, laughter and cheer into this team!

If not that would not be me :)

Siliguri - India 2011

I am heading to India in Dec for 12 days with a group of 7 other mission trippers.

This group going to India marks the beginning of Bethesda Youth (BY's) initiative to organize a yearly trip for the Senior Sunday School scholars and youths.

I thank the Lord for this opportunity to be able to go for my first ever church mission trip.

I thank the Lord for you and i ask that u with hold the team and I in prayer. Our prayer requests are:

1. For the team that as we go about planning our activities, that the Lord will grant us good planning and creative ideas.

2. For our youth who are in their midst of preparing for their examinations. That the Lord will grant them clear minds to remember whatever they have studied. Also pray that the Lord will grant them good health and may He encamp around them to protect them in their coming and going.

3. For the unity of the team. Pray that we may look past each other's flaw and see the cross behind.

4. That we are able to shine for the Lord and reach out to those who want to know Him more.

5. For hearts that will be receptive to the Lord's teaching. May we grow as a team and as individuals in our walk with God.

6. For our safety in India and that the Lord sustains us all of us during the trip till we come back.

If you are reading this, please pray that the Lord will renew my thoughts, feeling and strength.

Realisation!

I've come to realize that as the years go by... the older I get and the more I find out that illnesses has come to be my companion :(

Where does these illnesses come from? Mum, dad, family... oh boy... the list goes on... I just thank the Lord that He has granted me strength the last few years to deal with all of it...

Oh well... just have to take it all in and move on... the Lord will take care of everything.... Amen!

Waiting for the post-man!

Just this morning, as I was waiting for the post-man to redeliver an article that was delivered when no one was home! I thought of the things that I would like to do and here are some of them:

1. Travel in September
2. Complete my quilt that I started last year
3. Prepare Christmas presents for this year
4. Travel at least twice this year
5. Eat right!

That's what I have for the long year ahead... Hope that it keeps me busy!

Amazing Grace

Sang this song at last year's church camp and could never get it out of my head. Be blessed!

==============================================
CHRIS TOMLIN LYRICS

"Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)"

Amazing grace
How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost, but now I'm found
Was blind, but now I see

'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear
And grace my fears relieved
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed

My chains are gone
I've been set free
My God, my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood His mercy rains
Unending love, Amazing grace

The Lord has promised good to me
His word my hope secures
He will my shield and portion be
As long as life endures

The earth shall soon dissolve like snow
The sun forbear to shine
But God, Who called me here below
Will be forever mine
Will be forever mine
You are forever mine
